Swimming is Pure Joy
Just being in a body of water soothes the soul. I have never gone swimming in my life and regretted it, NOT ONCE! And something tells me this feeling can apply to many. When my mind recalls my time playing in water whether it was in the ocean, a lake or a pool the emotion i associate to those memories is always joy, Pure JOY! This only being the tip of the iceberg for the benefits of swimming and playing in water. From being the top exercise recommended by Harvard Health to being one of the greatest ways to rehab after an injury its all positive if you just go jump in water and play around. I know for a fact me and my brother greatly contribute a large part of our excellent health both physically and mentally to just going for a swim as often as possible.
The greatest difference between a swim in the ocean and a swim in fresh water is waves. By adding waves to a swim a whole new level of interaction and play is born between you and the ocean. Playing in waves is honestly hard to describe its so fun especially when Southern California gets big swells that are not really big enough to hurt an experienced swimmer but definitely big enough to get your adrenaline flowing generously. So if you find yourself near the ocean or any body of water for that matter jump in for a swim you wont regret it. Your body and mind will thank you.
